MARGAO: Margao’s famous Dindi festival associated with the Hari Mandir Temple will be held in the commercial capital on November 14 this year.
The week-long festivities will kick-start from Saturday at the Hari Mandir Temple, Pajifond before culminating in the grand Dindi festival on November 14.
Addressing the media, President of the Dindi festival committee Suhas Kamat informed that noted Pune-based artists will perform in Margao on the occasion of Dindi on November 14 during the procession of Lord Vithal Rakhumaye.
Kamat said the Margao MLA and former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat will inaugurate the Dindi festivities on November 9 at the Hari Mandir temple.
To a question on the long pending request to declare the Dindi festival as a state festival, Kamat exuded confidence that the request will be fulfilled next year by the government. “The government has initiated the process to declare Dindi festival as a state festival. We are confident that the festival will get the status of state festival next year”, he added.
