The High Court of Bombay at Goa has once again postponed the hearing on the formation of a new Noise Monitoring Committee, as no consensus was reached on the selection of two private members, even on Monday. The matter is now expected to be heard on Thursday.
Throughout the proceedings, both the petitioners and respondents, including the government, have been unable to agree on the names of the two private members for the five-member committee.
The court had previously directed the constitution of this committee to ensure the implementation of noise monitoring systems at party hubs and other event venues in a bid to provide real-time data to the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB), the tourism department, and the police.
The High Court is monitoring noise pollution issues, particularly in Anjuna, in response to a PIL against establishments violating the noise pollution rules.
