A headless body was found in Miramar on Monday.
Panjim police has registered the case of murder againstunknown culprits and section 302 and 201 of IPC is implied on the accused. Thedeceased has been identified as Laxman Sawant from Valavane, Thivim.
The body was identified by his sister Pratibha Parab basedon his birth mark on his leg.
SDPO Panjim Umesh Gaonkar has said that the body’s neck wascut by chopping it with a weapon, the deceased person’s left hand was alsomissing. The body found on Monday morning at around 6:30 am at Miramar beach.
The deceased has been missing since August 8 and his family loggeda missing complaint on Mapusa police station on August 9. “Based on the missingcomplaint and the description which family has given in the complaint has madeeasy identification” SDPO Gaonkar said. He said that the post mortem report hassignified multiple stabbing injuries on deceased body at the time of murder.
Sawant is survived by his wife along with one son and twogirls. Sawant was the former employee of the Sesa Goa company and tookretirement two years ago. Sources have mentioned that Sawant was undergoingpsychological treatment.
