Heavy rains in Goa lead to series of accidents; multiple injuries reported

Heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in various parts of Goa today, resulting in four accidents in the first half of the day that left multiple individuals injured, with some in critical condition.

The morning began with a head-on collision between two cars at Khursakade-Usgao, leaving five people injured, two of whom are critically wounded. All victims have been admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Shortly after, a loaded truck veered off course and crashed into a house at Poraskade. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but three vehicles sustained significant damage due to the impact.

In another alarming incident near RG Hospital, Porvorim, a truck collided with a goods carrier, causing the carrier to careen off the road, jump onto the footpath, and crash into the hospital entrance. Several parked motorcycles were crushed in the process. Thankfully, no fatalities were reported, though the driver of the goods carrier sustained injuries. Bystanders managed to intervene and halt the truck's further movement.

Additionally, a hit-and-run incident near the accident-prone GVM Circle in Farmagudi saw a scooter strike students, injuring 16-year-old Saloman Palai from Manaswada-Kundai. The driver fled the scene with the scooter after the collision. Palai is currently undergoing treatment at Ponda PHC, with Ponda police, on lookout for the rider.
