MARGAO
Heavy showers that lashed the city on Monday evening left several roads waterlogged and inundated, raising questions over the monsoon preparedness.
The Old market-KTC bus stand road was flooded near the Chapel area, with the waterlogged on one side on the four-lane road.
Water logging was reported from several other areas in the city, including the station road.
Margao Municipal officials pointed out that the civic body would attend to the areas, wherever water had accumulated during the first rains.
The Margao Municipal Council had carried out departmental desilting of the drains over the last one month, when the city witnessed the second COVID wave.
“Our labourers will attend to the waterlogging witnessed on Monday evening. Necessary measures will be carried out for the smooth drainage of the rain water”, informed an official.
