Police deployed at felicitation event

Margao police were deployed at the Gomant Vidya Niketan, Margao, where a felicitation of city-based businessman and thinker Datta Damodar Naik was organised on Sunday.
A group of Hindu activists under the banner of Gomantak Mandir Mahasang lodged a complaint against Datta Naik at the Margao police station earlier in the day for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of the Hindu community.
Mahasang leader Jayesh Telli said they had lodged complaints against Datta for his utterances, which have hurt the sentiments of Hindus.
“Whether Datta Naik believes in God or not, we have no issue, but he has no right to hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindu community,” he said, adding that complaints would be lodged at other police stations as well.
