Holi celebrations were organised in a big way in the commercial capital on Friday.
While devotees performed rituals at the Pimpalkatta Temple and at Linga, Fatorda in the morning, the Holi Splash, an initiative by Yogiraj Kamat, son of Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, organised at the parking lot of the Indoor stadium, Navelim, evoked huge response from the Holi revellers from across the city.
In fact, it was a double celebration at the Indoor stadium with Yogiraj celebrating his birthday in the midst of the Holi celebrations. Yogiraj cut his birthday cake in the presence of BJP State President Damu Naik, Margao Municipal Chairperson Damu Shirodkar, besides the Margao MLA and family members and hundreds of supporters and well-wishers.
Both Digambar and Yogiraj promised to organise the Holi celebrations on a bigger scale next year at the same venue.
At the Lord Damodar Linga, Fatorda near the Nehru stadium, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai along with his Margao municipal councillors offered prayers to Lord Damodar before participating in the Holi celebrations.
The Fatorda MLA prayed the celebrations to unite the people of Goa and help to take the state forward in all spheres of life.
