MARGAO
A post-Covid clinic started functioning from Thursday at the Hospicio hospital, which will provide comprehensive treatment to recovered patients from South Goa district Covid hospital with mild to moderate infection and with comorbidities.
Hospicio Medical Superintendent Dr Deepa Corriea Afonso said the Covid clinic is meant for patients who are long haulers and don’t make quick recoveries as they suffer from comorbid conditions such as diabetes, hypertension etc. Given this situation, these patients are required to be examined by physicians to ensure that they are the road to complete recovery.
“The Covid clinic at Hospicio will operate every Thursday from 2.30 pm. This clinic will target patients, especially those discharged from the South Goa district hospital, with mild to moderate Covid with comorbid conditions. The aim is to give comprehensive treatment to the recovered patents,” she added.
Dr Deepa said the clinic will provide a comprehensive package for the patients, with care by physicians, pulmonologist, physiotherapists, Ayush medical personnel and yoga therapist.
“Those who require laboratory assistance will be provided with X-ray and CT-scan. Hospicio is equipped with these facilities and patients can avail of them at the clinic,” she said, adding that Covid-recovered patients can avail facilities at the clinic every Thursdays.
Dr Rita, a naturopath, who has volunteered to be a coordinator of the Covid clinic, said that besides providing treatment, the clinic will be available for queries from the patients.
The Covid clinic is basically meant for follow-up and continued care for patients, who have been discharged from the Covid hospital. Those patients who have completed 17 days of isolation after they tested positive for Covid can avail the treatment at the Covid clinic,” Dr Rita said.
She said the clinic is an integrated approach for the holistic wellbeing of the patients as the clinic has integrated modern medical science for treatment along with Ayush and yoga.
“Follow up and treatment is very important for patients with high risk and comorbidities. We have combined continued medical care and follow up with X-ray and immunity enhancement. We have come out with diet and breathing exercises for the patients,” Dr Rita added.
