MLA Borkar says estimates of Rs 10 cr have been prepared, submitted to Centre for approval

The road from Pilar to Old Goa will be taken up for hotmixing and other related works at a cost of Rs 10 crore ahead of the exposition of the relics of St Francis Xavier, which will begin in November.
This was divulged by St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar during the commencement of the hotmixing of one side of the road from Pilar to Azossim-Mandur, on Friday.
Speaking to reporters, MLA Borkar informed that with the exposition coming up, the proposal for the hotmixing of the road has been sent to the Centre.
“The works also include drains with slab, cross drains, pavers wherever necessary, etc” Borkar stated while adding that the entire project will be completed before the Exposition.
Meanwhile, speaking on the work of the commencement of one-side of the hotmixing of road from Pilar to Azossim-Mandur, Borkar stated that the entire stretch was dug for laying underground power cabling due to which the motorists were facing a lot of hardship as one side of the road was bumpy.
“After the hotmixing is completed, the hardship would be alleviated. The total work has been undertaken at cost of Rs 1.7 crore which includes soling, reinstatement and hotmixing,” MLA Borkar stated.
To a question by The Goan, MLA Borkar said that the engineers would continuously monitor the work to ensure quality.
Azossim-Mandur sarpanch Prashant Naik, deputy sarpanch Tejasvi Naik, Neura sarpanch Honorina Araujo, panchas, PWD officials, contractor and others were present.
