PANAJI: An Indian Navy vessel collided with a fishing vessel 'Marthoma' about 70 nautical miles northwest of Goa, late last night. The fishing vessel had 13 crew members on board, 11 of whom were rescued after a prompt Search and Rescue (SAR) operations by the Indian Navy.
A total of six ships and aircraft were deployed at the site even as search for two others is currently underway.
The rescue operations are being coordinated with the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Mumbai. Additional support, including assets from the Indian Coast Guard, has been redirected to the area to bolster the SAR efforts.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
