The contractor allotted the work to demolish the town hall at Sanguem has finally demolished the incomplete portion of the building which was left in a precarious position since December 2024.
Shortly after a report in The Goan about the threat confronting people and vehicles parked by the side of the building, a joint meeting of the Sanguem Municipal Council, the contractor and electricity department officials was convened on February 20.
At the meeting, the contractor put forth his difficulty in demolishing the remaining portion of the building as it was barely a metre away from the electricity transformer. The contractor requested the electricity department to shift the transformer elsewhere till the time the demolition work is undertaken.
The electricity department temporarily shifted the transformer on a trolley, paving the way for the demolition of the remaining portion of the town hall. Residents heaved a sigh of relief as the remaining portion of the building was finally demolished on Monday.
