2 accused wanted in crime by Assam police

Verna police on Thursday night busted an IPL cricket betting racket and arrested 10 persons after raiding a house at Arossim.
Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh said Verna police had recovered and attached 31 mobile phones, 7 laptops, 3 internet routers and other electronic accessories worth over Rs 10 lakh from the possession of 10 persons suspected to be involved in the IPL betting racket.
“We have arrested Nitin Singh (31) of Chhattisgarh, Sachin Singh (24) of Uttar Pradesh, Sourabh Deshpande (26) of Maharashtra, Sunny Jaiswal (31) of Delhi, Satyendra Kumar Singh (27) of Uttar Pradesh, Sunil Kumar Rai (27) of Odisha, Mitesh Pradhan (23) of Chhattisgarh, Nand Kishor Sahu (32) of Chhattisgarh, Dalip Singh (24) of Rajasthan and Kishan Singh (21) of Rajasthan who were caught red handed while accepting bets on the on-going IPL Cricket match played between Kolkata Night Riders and Sunrise Hyderabad,” said DySP Shaikh.
“We carried the raid at a closed premises at a house in Arossim along with our staff based on a tip off. We found 10 persons from different parts of India and we recovered 31 mobile phones with different active SIMs. We also found seven laptops and three internet routers along with other electronic accessories. We also found multiple used and unused SIM cards as well and the people were arrested,” said Shaikh
“During the detailed course of investigation, we found out that two of the accused are wanted by the Assam Police and we have informed our counterparts. We will move the transfer warrant in the court and hand the custody of these two persons to Assam Police through the court. We will place these two persons under judicial custody and finally hand them to the Assam Police through the court,” said DySP Shaikh.
