The Ro-Ro ferries, equipped with cutting-edge technology, will replace the older ferry boats and provide efficient commuting options to daily traverllers on the Ribandar-Chorao route.

The Ro-Ro ferries have larger passenger and vehicle capacities and have the potential to save time as unlike the current ferries they do not need be reversed.

IPSCDL said, it is overseeing the widening of the existing Ribandar ferry ramp at the request of the RND. The scope of work includes expanding the ramp to a final width of 26 meters to accommodate the larger Ro-Ro ferries.

The work involves reconstruction and extension of the ramp, along with piling, building a retaining wall and installing mooring piles, IPSCDL said.

Additionally a ticket booth and restroom facilities for passengers are also being built at a total cost of Rs 2.07 crore.
