MARGAO
The Goa police heaved a sigh of relief after the men-in-uniform managed to recover the bag containing 40 cartridges which had gone missing on Tuesday evening when the Goa Police India Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel were boarding a train heading to Uttar Pradesh at the Margao railway station.
The bag containing the 40 cartridges was traced at the ring road, along the stretch between the Margao fire station and the Davorlim circle.
After the IRB personnel had lodged a missing report with the Margao police over the missing bag and the cartridges, the Goa police had launched a massive hunt to trace the bag in and around the Margao
railway station.
Sleuths of the Crime branch had also descended on Margao to investigate into the missing bag.
Sources said the IRB personnel, who was in possession of the bag and the cartridges, suddenly realized that the same had gone missing and immediately lodged a complaint. While around 900 personnel of the
IRB, around 10 companies, boarded the train on their onward journey to Uttar Pradesh for election duty, the concerned IRB personnel stayed back after the bag containing the 40 cartridges went missing.
Margao Police station in-charge, PI Sachin Narvekar, said the teams constituted by the police were successful in recovering the bag and the cartridges.
