PANAJI
The body of 38-year-old Javed Sadekar, a casino employee, was recovered from the River Mandovi this morning. This ended a relentless search for the victim who was hurled into the river on Thursday evening when a rent-a-cab collided with his oncoming bike on a bridge.
His body was found floating, opposite Old Secretariate.
Sadekar leaves behind his wife and three minor sons.
The accused driver, Ankit Triparty from Odisha, is already arrested on charges of culpable homicide and drunk driving.
An FIR under sections 504 (culpable homicide), 279 (rash driving), 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code, and 185 (drunk driving) of the Motor Vehicles Act was registered against him on Thursday, a day after he was kept under detention by Panaji police.
