NEW DELHI

Jet Airways on Thursday said it would deploy a bigger aircraft, a wide-body Airbus A330, on Delhi-Singapore route, offering 50 per cent more seat capacity on the route, from 25th of this month.

At present, the sector is being serviced by single-aisle Boeing 737.

The A330 offers passengers a customised two-cabin seating configuration of 18 seats in premiere (business) and 236 in economy class, Jet Airways said in a release.

The operation of a wide-body aircraft will enable passengers on this high demand sector to experience enhanced cabin comfort on board while offering convenient connections for those travelling from India to Australia and the ASEAN region over Singapore on code share and interline partner airlines, it said.

"We are happy to deploy Jet Airways' spacious and modern wide-body aircraft to provide additional capacity on the highly popular Delhi-Singapore-Delhi route. This sector has seen a steady growth in traffic, particularly among business travellers," Jet Airways senior vice president for commercial Guarang Shetty said.

In addition, connecting traffic over Singapore to Australia and the ASEAN region booked through code share and interline partners is also growing rapidly, he said.

Following the aircraft upgrade, business class passengers will get to experience the luxury of flatbeds set in a herringbone layout, while guests travelling in economy can enjoy the comfort of a spacious cabin fitted with ergonomically-designed seating, among other facilities, the airline said.
