The Cuncolim police have arrested a native of Jharkhand for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl from Chhattisgarh after befriending her through Facebook.
The victim, who is now pregnant, stated that between 2 January 2025 and 14 February 2025, at Sarzora, Salcete, the accused, identified as Sushan Nayak, a native of Jharkhand residing at Sarzora, befriended her through Facebook and took her to Jharkhand.
She further alleged that the accused later brought her to Goa, confined her to his rented room at Sarzora, and had forceful sexual intercourse with her on multiple occasions, resulting in her pregnancy.
The police have registered an FIR under the provisions of the BNS, as well as Section 8(2) of the Goa Children’s Act, 2003, and Section 4 of the POCSO Act, 2012. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
