PANAJI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Goa unit today held a protest demanding a thorough investigation into the ongoing Jobs-for-Cash scam in the State.
The protest held at Merces junction saw several AAP leaders protesting over the government's failure to eradicate corruption and irregularities in the recruitment process.
AAP Goa President Amit Palekar demanded that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant make a public statement on the investigation status and ensure transparency in the probe.
He questioned the government's seriousness towards the issue, which according to him is deeply rooted in the recruitment process.
He alleged the possible involvement of a close aid of the Chief Minister in the entire scam, thus forcing the government to go slow in the investigation.
Palekar also pointed out that talented, well-educated young people in Goa are struggling to find jobs because they cannot afford to pay the bribes.
Palekar argued that this practice of paying for jobs is one of the main reasons why many deserving candidates are left without employment.
