Kala Academy announces 50th Tiatr ‘A’ Group competition

Kala Academy Goa has invited entries for the 50th Tiatr ‘A’ Group Competition 2024-25. The competition is open to eligible institutions, with participation from some of the most prominent tiatr groups in the state.  

These include Kala Mogi, Candolim; J.J. Production, Santa Cruz; Drishti Entertainments, Curchorem; Machi Mogi, Santa Cruz; Dramatic Troupe, Ribandar; and Machi Mogi Morjim Cultural Sanskrutik Saunstha, Morjim.  

Other groups include Sao Bartolomeu Sports Club and Cultural Association, Chorao; Kala Niketan, Majorda; Matias Creative Group, Calangute; Goan.Com Socio & Cultural Association, Candolim; Taleigao Dramatic Troupe, Taleigao; St. Domnic Dramatic Troupe, Merces; Sant Matevachim Noketram; Barebhat Social & Cultural Association, Raia-Salcete; and Pachecos Dramatic and Cultural Association, Curtorim.  

The competition is scheduled to be held in March 2025 at the D.M. K. M. Auditorium, Panaji. Interested groups must submit their entries in the prescribed format no later than 14th January 2025, before 4:00 p.m.  

Revised rules, regulations, and entry forms have been available from January 8 at the Programme & Development Section of Kala Academy, Adil Shah Palace, Old Secretariat, Panaji, during office hours. Entry forms can be collected and submitted between 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., excluding holidays. A non-refundable entry fee of Rs 500 and a security deposit of Rs 5,000 must be submitted alongside the forms. The security deposit will be refunded only to institutions withdrawing within the stipulated five days.  

The draw to determine the sequence of performances will take place on 14th January 2025 at 5:00 p.m. on the first floor of Adil Shah Palace, Old Secretariat, Panaji. Institutions are urged to adhere to the submission guidelines to avoid last-minute inconveniences. For further information, participants may contact Kala Academy during office hours.
