PANAJI:

Aspiring seafarers in Goa can now enroll in updated entry-level training programs at the newly established Kamaxi Maritime Academy (KMA) in Verna. The academy offers internationally recognised certificate courses, approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, India, designed to prepare students for careers in the evolving global shipping industry, which is shifting towards decarbonisation and digitalisation.

The Kamaxi Group’s initiative comes in response to a significant shortage of skilled maritime professionals. The academy provides comprehensive short-term courses to equip students with the necessary skills for both onshore and offshore positions.

Principal Manoj Kumar Pandey emphasised the academy's timely launch, noting the importance of updating skills to remain relevant in the face of unprecedented industry changes. KMA's state-of-the-art facilities include advanced classrooms, a computer lab, an updated library, and a comprehensive assessment centre.

Courses offered include the Basic STCW Safety Training Course, Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (STSDSD), Refresher courses in Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (RFPFF), Personal Survival Techniques (RPST), and a combined Basic STCW Safety Training and Security Training (BST+STSDSD) course.

Admissions are open to students who have cleared their Class 10 exams. Interested candidates can apply through KMA’s official website at www.kamaximaritime.com.
