Karwar murder: Case takes a twist, key suspect found dead

Panaji:  In a shocking turn of events in the Karwar murder case, the police today recovered the dead body of the prime suspect Guruprasad Rane from River Mandovi near Betim jetty Karnataka police had been searching for Guruprasad for the past two days. 


Rane was charged as the main suspect in the murder of Vinayak Naik, a businessman from Karwar. Naik was brutally murdered while his wife got seriously injured. 


Karnataka police were on the hunt for Rane, who apparently had given Supari to kill Naik. Vinayak Naik, aged 50, was killed in a coastal village in Karwar while staying there with his wife, Vrashali.


Vinayak, known as Raju, ran an electrical business in Pune. 


The Uttara Kannada district police had formed several teams to track down the attackers. According to reports, Vinayak and Vrashali arrived at Hankon village on September 3 for a local temple fair and were set to leave for Pune on Sunday morning.


 Investigations revealed that armed men had entered their home around 5:15 AM and attacked the couple The attackers fled the scene after the assault.


Presently, Karwar police is coordinating with Goa police for  further investigating this case.
