Vrunda Velip was on Tuesday elected unopposed as the new sarpanch of the seven-member Khotigao panchayat.
Except for one panch, all other panch members were present at the special meeting to elect the new sarpanch.
Vrunda will be the second sarpanch during this term, after Anandu Desai, who occupied the post since the election of the current term, tendered his resignation to make way for the second panch member of the five-member ruling group.
Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar personally visited the Khotigao panchayat to congratulate Vrunda Velip on getting elected unopposed and wished her success.
Poinguinim Sarpanch Savita Tawadkar, Khotigao outgoing sarpanch Anandu Desai, Canacona BJP Block President Vishal Desai and Shristhal BMC Chairperson Vinay Tubki also visited the Khotigao panchayat and greeted the newly elected sarpanch.
