Stating that KLE Society and its institutions are everything to him, KLES Chairman Dr Prabhakar Kore paid rich to its founders (saptrshis) who played a vital role a little over century ago giving primary and higher education opportunity to the underprivileged in the society.
He was speaking at a programme to felicitate him at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Campus at Belagavi on Saturday evening. The governing body of the society had organised the function to mark completion of 40 years of Dr Prabhakar Kore as the chairman of the society.
“Though I come from a village, it is a miracle that I was selected as the chairman of such a big society. We saw the best in the world, and we adopted it in our institutes and hospitals,” Dr Kore said.
Speaking further he said that the society was founded by seven teachers, whose sacrifices are immense.
“Innumerable teachers have laboured here diligently. As a result of quality education the society has grown tremendously,” Dr Kore said.
He also expressed gratitude to the directors all these years.
“I succeeded because of their positive support as they gave me full cooperation for 40 years,” he said, while adding that the 40 years were certainly not a bed of roses.
Speaking further, he said that the society which grew from 38 institutions to 310 institutions was possible due to the support of the donors.
“I am happy that 16 hospitals, including those in Karnataka and Maharashtra, have acquired international recognition,” Dr Kore ascertained adding that he will continue striving for the society.
Former Bagalkote MLA and president of Basaveshwar Veerashiav Vidyavardhak Mandal Dr Veeranna Charantimath who was the guest of honour appreciated Dr Kore’s role stating that it is because of his efforts the KLE Society has become the largest educational institution in Asia.
Allama Gurubasava, MLC Prakash Hukkeri, and ex-MLC SV Sanknur and others spoke lauding services of Dr Kore.
Directors of KLE society Sankaranna Munavalli, Mahantesh Kavatagimath, Dr HB Rajasekhar, Dr Ashok Shettar also spoke. KLE Board of Directors and the guests felicitated and congratulated Dr Prabhakar Kore and Asha Kore.
A book ‘Ratna Raja Dr Prabhakar Kore’ which reveals his 40 years of service was also released on the occasiobn.
Dr VS Sadhunavar, Jayanand Munavalli, YS Patil, Anil Patted, Babanna Metgud, Praveen Bagewadi, Amit Core, MC Kolli were present on the stage. MLA Mahantesh Koujalagi, President of KLE society welcomed the gathering, while Dr Mahesh Gurangoudar hosted the function. VA Sadhunavar later proposed the vote of thanks.
