Konkan Railway celebrates 34 years of service with investments

As Konkan Railway Corporation celebrated 34 years of dedicated service to the nation, Chairman and MD Santosh Kumar Jha has announced that the Railway Ministry approved an equity of Rs 1,486 crore for construction of Old Goa and Pernem tunnels under Plan Head 61 – Investment in PSUs.  

He said the Konkan Railway has earned its highest-ever profit of Rs 301.75 crore during the last financial year. He further announced that new projects valued at Rs 1,700 crore have been secured, including Rs 850 crore for electrical works, Rs 769 crore for engineering works, Rs 69 crore for signal and telecom works, and Rs 13 crore for mechanical works.

Addressing a gathering on the 34th Foundation Day at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, Jha also informed that an employment notification has been issued for 190 vacancies across various departments.

The track maintenance staff, pointsmen, and other frontline workers who have played a crucial role in maintaining operational safety by promptly reporting any unusual incidents were awarded on-the-spot cash awards as a token of appreciation for their invaluable contribution to ensuring safety.
