In a sweeping crackdown on interstate drug trafficking, the Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) of Goa Police arrested a Maharashtrian for alleged possession of synthetic drugs valued at Rs 25.10 lakh in the international market.

The accused identified as Parvej Ali Khan, 30, a resident of Kudal in Sindhudurg, Maharashtra, was caught red handed near the Patradevi checkpoint, just meters inside the Goa border. He was subsequently arrested.

The ANC officials stated that they recovered a significant haul of narcotics from Khan’s possession -- 208 grams of Ecstasy powder and 43 high-potency Ecstasy pills -- allegedly for distribution within the party circuit. Khan is suspected to be a key player in a larger Mumbai-Goa network.

"He was operating as a primary supplier of Ecstasy, also known as “pills,” funneling large quantities from Mumbai into Goa, where they were then disseminated by smaller street-level peddlers. His entry in Goa coincided with the start of a long holiday weekend," the ANC said as the probe is being monitored by SP ANC Tikam Singh Verma and DySP Nerlon Albuquerque.

The accused is remanded to police custody for interrogation.
