MAPUSA:
A tragic incident unfolded in Canca near Mapusa on Thursday, when a 32-year-old labourer from Jharkhand fell to his death while replacing a worn-out electricity pole.
The accident occurred as Bhaleshwar Kumar Rathod was atop the broken pole, removing electrical wires when it suddenly gave way, causing him to fall with it.
Despite swift medical attention at North Goa District Hospital and subsequent transfer to GMC hospital, he succumbed on the way to Bambolim.
Mapusa Police conducted an investigation at the scene, while Subhash Parsekar, Executive Engineer of the Electricity Department, visited to assess the situation.
Following protocols, other workers promptly replaced the damaged pole with a new one, restoring electricity supply to the area.
