A major landslide that occurred in the Braganza Ghat past midnight and the trees uprooted between Londa and Tinaighat stations disrupted the train services between Kulem and Londa on Friday. However, after over six hours of efforts taken by the South Western Railway employees, the tracks were cleared at around 6 am.

According to information from the SWR authorities at around 12.55 am on Friday, a huge land slide occurred between Dudhsagar and Sonalium section in the Braganza Ghat and uprooted trees which fell on the tracks between Londa – Tinaighat section duly affecting OHE power supply disrupting train services.

Four trains were affected and were regulated at Londa, Alnavar, Belagavi and Vasco stations. Relief material and staff reached the sites immediately after which the restoration was taken up on war footing. “Water and light refreshments were arranged for all the passengers at all the four locations. Senior Officers led by General Manager Arvind Srivastava, Addl GM KS Jain and others reached the location to supervise the restoration work. The track in Braganza Ghats and between Londa- Tinaighat section were cleared and certified fit around 5.55 am after which the train services resumed,” SWR Chief PRO Dr Manjunath Kanmadi said.
