Most shops were shut in Curchorem town in response to the four-day lockdown across the State.
While the Curchorem Traders Association had appealed for a total bandh in the market area, the lockdown was 90% successful as some shops dealing with groceries, restaurants and the fish market were found to be opened.
The Curchorem police also maintained strict vigil and penalised those not following the SOPs. Curchorem PI Ravi Dessai and his team also visited the vegetable and fish market in Curchorem to monitor the situation.
The presence of police teams at strategic locations also helped in preventing unnecesary movement of people in the market area.
