First-time Rajbagh-Tarir Councillor Gandesh Madgavnkar was elected unanimously as the new vice-chairperson of Canacona Municipal Council (CMC).
The lone nomination of Madgavnkar was received for the post after Narcisco Fernandes had resigned following an agreement with the 7-member ruling group of councillors.
CMC Chairperson Sara Naik Desai, Ramakant Naikgaunkar, Simon Rebello, Amita Pagi, Laxuman Pagui and outgoing Vice-Chairperson Narcisco Fernandes congratulated Madgavnkar on his election.
Besides present CMC Chairperson Sara Naik Desai, two councillors Simon Rebello and Ramakant Naikgaunkar from the seven-ruling group have served as chairpersons.
With the appointment of Madgavnkar, all remaining four ruling councillors including Amita Pagi, Laxuman Pagui and Narcisco Fernandes have got the opportunity to serve as vice-chairperson.
