With the leaking garbage compactors raising a stink in the residential areas of the city, a group of people from Malbhat led by former chairperson Rajendra Ajgaonkar called on the Margao Municipal Chairperson Damu Shirodkar with a plea to end the nuisance.
The delegation drew attention of the civic chief to the nuisance created by the leachate and spillage from the garbage compactors. Apart from posing danger to the motorists, the delegation said that the situation has affected the business activities of the establishments at Malbhat.
After giving the delegation a patient hearing, the Margao civic chief has assured to deploy a new garbage compactor on the Malbhat route.
Shirodkar urged the delegation to exercise patience for some time saying the garbage compactors ordered by the civic body are expected to be delivered to the Municipality in the next few days.
