Angry locals march to police station, seek arrest of accused
Police officials hold talks with angry locals from Khajne-Pernem outside the Pernem police station on Wednesday evening.

Pernem police registered an offence against Sameer Korgaonkar of Khajne-Pernem on charges of uttering casteist remarks against a minor girl from the village, even as angry residents of Khajne marched to the Pernem police station on Tuesday night and Wednesday.
According to sources, the incident is alleged to have taken place on Tuesday evening, when Sameer Korgaonkar was riding his two-wheeler from Khajne, while the girl’s two-wheeler was in the oncoming direction.
An argument broke out and the girl alleged that Korgaonkar had grabbed her shirt and made casteist remarks against her.
On hearing of the incident, a group of angry residents rushed to the Pernem police station on Tuesday night to demand the arrest of the accused.
Pernem Police Inspector Sachin Lokre told the villagers that the police would take action in the matter and the locals then dispersed from the police station.
On Wednesday evening, residents marched to the police station in order to enquire about the matter, when they were stopped at the gate by a police team.
Later, DySP Shirodkar and Police Inspector Sachin Lokre went to meet the agitated residents. DySP Shirodkar told them that the police has formed a team in search of the accused and could not specify when the accused would be nabbed.
Advocate Jitendra Gaonkar sought to know if the accused had been arrested in the connection.
Gaonkar warned that if the accused was not arrested, they would stage another agitation and would also meet the Director General of Police in Panaji.
Later speaking to reporters, Gaonkar said the poor are not getting justice in Pernem as the police had failed to trace the accused.
Pernem police later booked an offence against Korgaonkar and is on the lookout for him.
