Manpower shortage in PWD building dismissed

PWD Minister Pramod Sawant has said that the government does not consider the manpower shortage a significant problem in the Public Works Department (PWD) concerning building projects. He explained that the construction of new buildings, as well as renovations, repairs, and maintenance, is managed through a tender process. This process ensures that projects are executed based on specific estimates and requirements, with minor maintenance handled by departmental staff. The minister was replying to a question by Mayem MLA Premendra Shet through a starred questions amid worries that manpower shortages in the Buildings Section of PWD could delay major projects and inconvenience the public. Nevertheless, the government remains committed to the structured tendering process as an effective solution to address project needs.
