The Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) has appointed 3 special squads to recover various taxes from the public and establishments.
The special squads will also evaluate house tax and trader's license and will be responsible to acquire information regarding shops running without licenses.
The MMC is also expecting to collect taxes from shopkeepers who have trading licenses and are not running the shops at the moment, but they are yet to notify the MMC that the operations are closed.
Senior MMC officials made it clear that defaulters from all wards will be sent demand notice to pay the taxes or face stern action.
