MARGAO
Margao bakers have returned to their usual spot behind the Margao Municipal building after a week away. The bakers had been forced to relocate due to an overflowing sewage chamber on the main road and pavement, which caused a foul smell and posed a health hazard.
For about a week, the bakers had no choice but to move out of the area.
The Margao Municipal Council (MMC) had requested them to shift their operations to nearby lanes until the sewage issue was resolved.
With the sewage problem now fixed, the bakers resumed their business on Tuesday, hoping the issue does not recur.
“Our business was disrupted for about a week, but we are happy to be back,” said one baker.
They now hope that the sewage manhole remains functional, so they can continue selling their pao and poie without further interruptions.
