Margao’s ambitious sewerage project came under the scanner of citizens and motorists back again.

Reason: Sewage chambers at many places have been found overflowing on Sunday after incessant and heavy rains lashed the city. In fact, overflowing sewage chambers during the monsoon is not something new for the local residents, raising questions on the sewerage project,  including the underground pipeline laying work.

Hopes, however, were raised this year after the Sewerage Infrastructure Corporation of Goa Ltd (SIDCGL) and the PWD had inspected the problematic sewage chambers to find out blockage if any. “Our team had checked most of the sewage chambers, which were found overflowing during monsoons in the past. The PWD is maintaining a check to find out the overflowing chambers so that the team could be deployed again to check blockage, if any”, remarked a PWD official.
