Maundy Thursday, a day before Good Friday was observed in the city churches. Prayer services were offered in all the churches in the city and around where Christians took part in the washing of the feet of the disciples by the priests.
While the priests in all the churches also commemorated the act of Jesus, Bishop Derek Fernandes during the prayer service at Fatima Cathedral washed the feet of 12 people including men and women. He also gave a message of service and humility to the people as taught by Jesus Christ.
Good Friday will begin with special Way of the Cross prayers that will be offered in all churches on Friday morning. The Good Friday prayers will be held on Friday afternoon.
