Margao police was once again left red faced after burglars successfully targeted a medical store and a eatery at Aquem located right near the busy and congested St Sebastian traffic junction, Aquem-Margao.

What has raised concern amongst the citizens as well as owners of  business establishments is the audacity of the burglars to target establishments right along busy roads and market places in the last few days and get away with it.

In fact, this is the third successful attempt in the spate of thefts that have taken place in the commercial capital when the burglars have literally thrown up a challenge for the Margao police headed by PI Tulsidas Naik to nab them.

The incident at the bus Aquem junction came to light when the owner of the pharmacy came to open the business for the day on Tuesday morning, only to realise that the locks of the shutter were cut and damaged. Their worst fears came true when they found that the miscreants had effected entry into the medical store, though they were unsuccessful in laying their hands on major booty.

Even as the police were investigating the burglary in the medial store,  news soon spread that an adjoining eatery was burgled too by the miscreants.

The  Margao police had come under the scanner of citizens and market traders when miscreants targeted as many as 7-8 shops in the Margao Municipal Market  in the wee hours of Sunday.

If sources are to believed, the commercial capital has witnessed a spate of thefts in the last few days, but the Margao police has been found wanting in not only arresting the gang of thieves, but to keep the burglars at bay.

In fact, Monday had seen citizens demanding that the police intensify patrolling in the commercial capital as a precautionary measure in view of the rising number of burglaries and thefts in the city.
