Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira has on Friday called for streamlining the process of issuance of land conversion sanads in order to clear and expedite the disposal of pending applications before the South district authorities.

At his Friday darbar held at the South Goa District Collectorate, Sequeira said he has received complaints galore that issuance of conversion sanads takes a long time for want of NOCs from the departments such as Forest, Agriculture, TCP, etc.

The Environment Minister told the meeting after the darbar that he had discussed the issue with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in view of complaints that the conversion sanads are not issued on time over the delay in issuing the NOCs by the concerned agencies including the Forest Department.

“Today, I have discussed the issue with the senior officials from the Collectorate how go to about the task of streamlining the issuance of conversion sanads. As a first step, the South Collectorate will send consolidated list of cases pending at the Collectorate with the Department of Forest, Agriculture and TCP. For instance, the TCP department comes into play over the issue of zoning. However, it should not take much time for the TCP to do the needful by just taking a glance of the zone,” he said, adding that the spirit behind the exercise of streamlining the system is to try and expedite the disposal of the pending applications.

He said the same criteria can be adopted for the disposal of regularisation of houses. “I have tried to form a system to meet the challenge of getting all the members of the panel together before they go to inspect the houses in question,” he added.

Meanwhile, Sequeira told the media that the issue over the disposal of the 17 pending dead bodies at the Goa Medical College and Hospital mortuary has been resolved. “I believe Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has found a solution to the issue for the disposal the bodies lying at the mortuary,” he added.
