VASCO
Cortalim MLA Antonio Vas on Tuesday said he would take up the matter with Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and the Director of Health Services (DHS) regarding staff and equipment shortage at the Cansaulim Primary Health Centre (PHC).
Vas was speaking after conducting an inspection of the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Cansaulim in the presence of Cansaulim Sarpanch Savio Pereira, the deputy sarpanch and others.
During his visit, Vas interacted with Cansaulim PHC Health Officer along with the nurses, lab technicians, and administrative staff to understand the functioning of the facility and address their concerns.
It was brought to the MLA’s attention that the PHC is grappling with a shortage of staff and paramedical officials, which has affected its ability to serve the community efficiently.
Additionally, key diagnostic equipment such as the X-ray and ultrasound machines were reported to be non-functional, further hampering healthcare services.
Vas later assured the staff that he would take up the matter with Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and the Director of Health Services (DHS) to address these pressing issues.
He reiterated his commitment to improving the healthcare infrastructure in the region to ensure better services for the residents.
“The inspection was to highlight the need for urgent interventions to enhance staffing and ensure the availability of functional medical equipment, crucial for delivering quality healthcare to the community,” said Vas.
