Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar appealed to the State government to provide free screenings of the film ‘Chhaava’, based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, for students in the State, citing its inspirational value.
Amonkar made this demand on Wednesday while flagging off a grand Bhavya Shivayatra Rally from Mormugao Fort. The event saw a massive turnout, with a number of programmes held throughout the day, including a morning ceremony at Mormugao Fort in Sada, a rally in the afternoon, and a special programme featuring a guest speaker on the life and legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Speaking at the event, Amonkar highlighted Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy as a visionary ruler and administrator.
"Many consider him a deity and draw inspiration from his leadership and values. Today’s overwhelming participation in the rally reflects his enduring influence," he said.
Turning his focus to Chhaava, a historical film based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Amonkar said: “The movie has struck an emotional chord with audiences of all ages. The demand for tickets is so high that they are often unavailable. Given its strong message, the government must support it, just as it has backed other biographical and historical films in the past.”
"This film portrays the struggles and sacrifices of our real heroes. If shown to students, it can inspire them from a young age and shape their character," he asserted.
