Valpoi-Thane road-widening, hotmixing approved

Stating that the development of Poriem constituency would be taken up in a phased manner, Poriem MLA Deviya Rane has said proposals submitted to the government have started getting approvals.
She was addressing a gathering after launching the work to widen and hotmix the Valpoi-Thane road at a cost of 3.33 crore.
“PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral has sanctioned roadworks at different places in the constituency and all proposals for Poriem constituency, which have been submitted to the government, will definitely be approved,” said the MLA.
The had been a long-pending demand to hotmix the Valpoi-Thane road and a proposal had been submitted to the government.
“Work on this project began as soon as it received approval from the PWD. A long-pending pending will finally be fulfilled.”
Speaking on the occasion, Thane Sarpanch Sarita Gaonkar said Thane village is almost 9 kms from Valpoi city and a large number of vehicles ply between Valpoi and Thane on a daily basis.
“There had been a demand to hotmix the road and with the project getter approved, work has begun and we are confident that a better road will be available to motorists and commuters sometime soon,” said Gaonkar.
PWD Assistant Engineer Devendra Velingkar said the 9-km stretch between Thane-Valpoi will be widened wherever possible and hotmixing will be taken up after that.
Others present included Thane panch members, PWD JE Zilbarao Desai, Chandan Naik, Gurudas Gokhale, Zilla Panchayat Member Devyani Gavas and others.
