When will the Margao Municipal Council mandate its army of employees and workers to register their attendance on the face and fingerprint biometric reader?

Ever since the Covid pandemic had hit the State around two years ago, the Margao Municipal Council had dispensed with the practice of registering the attendance on the biometric reader.

Questions, however, have been raised about why the civic body is yet to get the attendance of the employees registered on the biometric reader given that the Margao Municipal has celebrated major festivities, including the carnival and Shigmo earlier this year, indicating the situation is under control.

Incidentally, the MMC has replaced the old biometric reader with the latest face and fingerprint biometric reader. Two such face and fingerprint readers have been installed on the building's ground floor and the first floor, but the same has not been put to use to date.

Incidentally, the Margao Municipality has been talking about installing CCTV cameras to bring the employees under the scanner of the Big Brother, but in vain.

When The Goan called up the MMC Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes to shed light on the biometric reader, he said the employees will soon be asked to record their attendance on the device. “We could not revive the bio-metric finger scan reader given the pandemic and the government circular. But, since the situation has returned to normal, we will soon for the biometric reader”, he said.
