District Collector of South Goa, Egna Cleetus, IAS, highlighted the significance of the State-level mock drill on cyclone preparedness, calling it a vital step in assessing and strengthening disaster management systems.
Speaking after the simulation, Cleetus said the exercise enabled the district administration to review its preparedness, evaluate departmental readiness, and fine-tune Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). “The mock exercise helped us identify gaps, improve coordination among various agencies, and enhance the capacity of the system to face real disaster situations,” she stated.
She emphasised that such drills not only test emergency response mechanisms but also build long-term resilience. “This exercise has set the stage for better safety and security management across the State and is a significant boost for monsoon preparedness,” Cleetus added.
