The Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) will soon set up wellness centres at four different locations in its jurisdiction.
Speaking to reporters after a council meeting, MMC Chairperson Leo Rodrigues also said the MMC will stress on the use of solar energy.
"We have discussed this in our meeting today and we plan to have wellness centres in our municipality. We have got funds of around Rs 3.5 crore under GSUDA for this and we have already identified four locations for these wellness centres," said Rodrigues.
"We will also stress on the use of solar energy and we are in the process of identifying a few sites to set up solar plants. As of now, we have shortlisted the new market complex at Sada and we will also have plans to use solar energy for our municipal building. We plan to have solar roofs for these buildings so that we can become a green energy organisation using solar energy for daily power needs," said Rodrigues.
