Motorcycle set ablaze at Cuncolim, damages car

A Splendour motorcycle was set afire in front of a garage in the premises of KTC bus stand at Cuncolim, due to which a Maruti car belonging to Abdul Rauf, the Goa unit of the banned Popular Front of India was also damaged in the fire.
The Cuncolim police swung into action and arrested Shaikh Makbul s/o Shaikh Abdul Latif, aged 42 years, a resident of Panzorconi, Cuncolim.
The motorcycle was completely gutted in the fire, while the car belonging to Abdul Rauf was found partially burnt.
The incident came to light on Monday morning when Abdul Rauf had come to open his shop at the KTC bus stand when he came across the burnt motorcycle and the damage caused to his car.
Rauf told the media that a couple of months ago, unknown culprits had tried to open his shop and put fire. He demanded that the police intensify patrolling at the KTC bus stand, with a plea to the KTC management to illuminate the area and install CCTV cameras to keep anti-social elements at bay.
In a complaint, one Rehan M Rafiq Marihal s/o Mohammad Rafiq Marihal, age 22 years, a driver by occupation, lodged his complaint stating that between 18:00 hours of December 11 to 08:00 hours of December 12, in front of Sameer's Garage in the premises of KTC bus stand Cuncolim in an open place, unknown accused persons committed mischief by putting fire to Splendor Motorcycle bearing no. KA-30-H-9531, belonging to the complainant's uncle, thereby causing a loss to the tune of Rs 30,000. The complaint further stated that due to the mischief, a Maruti 800 bearing registration no. GA-02-J-6389 belonging to Abdul Rauf, which was parked near the motorcycle also got partially burnt at the left side door causing a loss to the tune of Rs 15,000.
