BELAGAVI
Fr Johnson Gonsalves, who has served in various educational institutions in Goa, has been appointed as the fifth provincial of Pune Province of the Missionaries of St Francis de Sales (MSFS).
He will take the charge of the province on August 10 during the Eucharistic celebration at St Francis de Sales Church, Shaanwadi, Nagar Road, Pune.
Pune Province serves under the jurisdiction of the Archdioceses of Mumbai, and Goa and Daman, the dioceses of Belgaum, Vasai, Pune, Sindhudurg, Salem, Ajmer and Jaipur as well as around ten dioceses abroad with its headquarters at MSFS Provincialate House, Pune.
In the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman, the MSFS fathers serve at Aldona, Bastora, Cotto Fatorpa, Siolim, Valpoi and Dadra Nagar Haveli.
Fr Johnson did his college education in St Xavier’s College at Mapusa and soon after his ordination in June 1998, he was appointed as assistant in the minor seminary at Bastora. He completed B.Ed from Nirmal Institute of Education in Panaji and went on to serve as headmaster of St Thomas Boy’s School in Aldona from 2009 to 2013. He also served as the manager at the St Thomas HSS at the same time.
