MARGAO
The Muslim community in Margao and surrounding areas celebrated Eid with devotion and enthusiasm on Monday.
Thousands of worshippers gathered at the Idgah in Pajifond in the morning to offer prayers.
After the prayers, Urfan Mulla, president of the Sunni Jama Masjid, Malbhat, said that Goa is known worldwide for peace, harmony, and brotherhood among its people. He prayed for these values to remain strong and for the state’s continued progress.
Extending Eid greetings, Mulla said that the government, led by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, is working to unite all sections of society for peace and development.
“We pray to God that the bond of friendship and brotherhood amongst the people of Goa continues and the state march forward on the road to progress and development,” he added.
AIM Chairman Aslam Sheikh said that Goans have lived together in harmony for many years.
“There may be communal elements in all religious communities. We should take care that we don’t fall prey to their machinations,” he added.
