For, a CCTV surveillance camera has captured a black cat on the prowl in a residential locality of Balli last night.
While locals suspect the wild animal to be a black panther, a forest official told The Goan that a close examination of the CCTV footage shows that it could be a leopard on the prowl in the area.
A team of forest officials is likely to descend at Balli on Tuesday even as the RFO, Balli range has been told to find out more details.
Residents of the locality had found dogs and cats missing over the last few days. After a Persian cat went missing, the owner is believed to have installed the CCTV camera, only to find the Black Panther or Leopard on the prowl.
