Nasnodkar Jewellers theft: Vigilant night patrol leads to arrest of jewellery thieves

In a successful operation, Goa police have cracked the Nasnodkar jewellery theft case in Mapusa, recovering 12 kg of silver and 1 kg of gold ornaments valued at several crores of rupees. Four suspects, including two minors, have been apprehended, with the minors being sent to Apna Ghar.

The robbery occurred on the intervening night of Monday at 1 a.m., and by 3 a.m., the night patrolling staff had photographed two men who appeared suspicious while roaming near the police station. Later, upon reviewing the CCTV footage of the theft, the officers realised that the individuals they had photographed matched the suspects captured in the footage. This critical lead played a major role in the investigation and apprehension of the thieves.

Further surveillance footage revealed the suspects boarding a train at Tivim Railway Station, leading a police team to take action and apprehend them. Authorities also disclosed that the suspects had attempted to burglarize the store the previous Saturday. Although intelligent camera systems sent an alert to the owners, they did not act on the warning.
