The National Divyangjan Finance and Development Corporation (NDFDC) has written to the Goa government, requesting wider publicity for its concessional housing and vehicle loan schemes aimed at Divyang government employees. These loans go up to Rs 50 lakh, with interest rates ranging from five per cent to nine per cent.
In a letter addressed to the Secretary of Social Welfare, IAS E. Vellavan, the NDFDC highlighted the need to spread awareness about these schemes.
Under the scheme, loans of up to Rs 50,000 are available at an interest rate of five per cent for vehicles and homes, while loans of up to Rs 5 lakh are charged six per cent interest. For housing loans above Rs 5 lakh, the interest rate is seven per cent for amounts up to Rs 50 lakh.
For vehicle loans, the interest rates are structured as follows: seven per cent for loans between Rs 5–15 lakh, eight per cent for Rs 15–30 lakh, and nine per cent for loans of up to Rs 50 lakh.
The Corporation pointed out that many government employees with disabilities may not know about these concessional schemes and, as a result, miss out on their benefits.
To address this, the NDFDC has asked the State government to link the relevant department’s website with the Corporation’s site, making it easier for eligible employees to access information.
In Goa, the Goa State Scheduled Caste and OBC Finance Development Corporation Limited is the agency responsible for implementing this scheme.
